Base tube surface is knurled before fin winding.
Stronger mechanical bonding between fin and tube.
Improved heat transfer efficiency due to better contact.
Higher resistance to fin loosening during operation.
Suitable for higher temperature and vibration conditions.

Process‍‌‍‍‌ Features:

Producing KL finned tubes is a continuous wrapping operation. Here, an aluminum (or other material) fin strip is tightly wound onto the base tube under controlled tension. Prior to the wrapping, the base tube's outer surface is usually knurled, creating a textured pattern that greatly enhances the mechanical joining of the fin to the tube. In this method, the fin foot is placed into the knurled grooves, which ensures a strong, stable connection without the need for additional welding. Hence we obtain a robust, reliable structure with uniform quality; this makes it a good choice for repeated, mass production.

Performance:

For working temperatures, a maximum of about 230°C should be observed. Up to this temperature, the fin-to-tube joint remains firm, and the heat transfer properties stay effective even after prolonged exposure to operating conditions. Besides, the design softens the effect of the expansion caused by the temperature difference between the fin material and the base tube to some extent, which helps the running reliability.

  • High production efficiency: As the wrapping process is simple and suitable for a high degree of automation, it can reach high production speeds and allow the manufacture to be cost-effective, especially for large quantities.

  • Strong mechanical bonding: By enhancing the surface of the base tube with knurling, the retention of the fins is improved, and the risk of the fins being loosened either during the operation or transportation is minimized.

  • Excellent heat transfer performance: Having uniform fin spacing and a relatively high finning ratio contribute to a bigger heat exchange area, which in turn leads to better overall thermal efficiency.

  • Base tube protection: Because the fins are tightly wrapped, they form a continuous outer layer that protects the base tube quite effectively from exposure to the air, moisture, and other corrosive elements, thereby prolonging its life.

  • Versatility: Depending on the type of application, this finned tube variant can be made of different tube and fin materials.

Applications:

KL wrapped finned tubes find their way into most of the sectors where dependable heat transfer and a moderate level of temperature resistance are needed. Besides in air coolers and air heaters at petrochemical and power plants, they have also been utilized in heat recovery systems, HVAC and building heating systems. Furthermore, food processing is one of the sectors where they are used as spray drying equipment. What is more, they certainly fit the bill for those conditions where there is a need for base-tube protection from the air-side corrosion whilst efficient heat exchange performance is to be ‍‌‍‍‌maintained.

FAQ:

1. Are you manufacturer or trader?

We are titanium tube manufacturer producing from melting titanium sponge, extruding hollow billet, rolling to finished tubes and destructive test mechanical test, chemical analysis, non-destructive tests like Ultrasonic test, Eddy current test, Pneumatic test and hydrostatic test are available in house.

Beside titanium tube production line, we also have finning lines. Our factory is still expanding and will invest more on finning facilities.

2. How many workers are there in your factory?

Till 2026, we have 210 staffs.

3. How fast can you deliver the materials?

It depends on the size and quantity, the standard time is 45 days.

4. What is the payment term you can offer?

Standard term is 30% T/T in advance, balance before shipment. L/C is also acceptable. It can be discussed based on different project.

5. Can you provide third party inspection service?

Yes, we can arrange BV/TUV/SGS/LR etc inspection. EN10204 3.2 certificate can be provided.
