Compared to stainless steel, carbon steel has a clear limitation in corrosion resistance. In such cases, stainless steel ensures longer service life and reduced maintenance. However, in non-corrosive or mildly corrosive conditions, carbon steel remains the more economical alternative, offering similar mechanical performance without the added material cost.

When compared with titanium, the difference becomes even more pronounced. Titanium finned tubes are specifically used in extreme corrosion environments, such as seawater desalination, marine engineering, and chloride-rich chemical processes. While titanium provides exceptional corrosion resistance and longevity, its high cost restricts its use to highly demanding applications. Carbon steel, on the other hand, is not suitable for such aggressive environments but is far more practical for standard industrial operations.
